How to choose lithium battery for electric scooter?

As a new type of energy storage device, lithium batteries have now been used in all aspects of life. However, lithium batteries are more active, and are more likely to catch fire and explode than lead-acid batteries, causing great losses to users. Many electric scooters now also use lithium batteries, but the safety of lithium batteries has always plagued us. So how to choose a safe, battery life and good lithium battery? Mainly look at these places.

There are two main reasons for the fire and explosion of the lithium battery of the electric scooter. One is that the current of the lithium battery is too large when charging, which causes the lithium battery to overcharge and heat, and finally causes the battery to explode due to thermal runaway.

The second is the violent collision of the lithium battery, causing the internal diaphragm to be destroyed, causing a huge chemical reaction in the battery's internal short circuit, and releasing a large amount of heat energy to cause a fire risk.

According to statistics, the probability of a fire in a lithium battery electric scooter is three out of ten thousand, mainly caused by improper charging and malfunction of the battery protection board. The two major safety protection structures of lithium batteries are its PACK technology and BMS protection board (battery management system).

Common electric scooter battery packs have two types: soft packs and hard packs. The cost of soft packs is lower than hard packs, but the safety factor is much lower, and the shock and heat resistance are relatively poor. Generally speaking, hard packs are used. Lithium batteries are better.

How to choose lithium battery for electric scooter?

Big brands of lithium batteries attach great importance to the BMS protection board, which is equivalent to the safety switch of the lithium battery. The BMS protection board of the inferior lithium battery uses inferior materials, and the temperature of the lithium battery cannot be well monitored during charging and discharging. The heat is out of control.

The quality of batteries is also related to the safety of electric scooters. Lithium battery batteries are divided into A-level, B-level, and C-level batteries. Many inferior manufacturers sell lithium batteries using B-class cores that are eliminated from cars, or C-class cores that have been ballasted in factories for a long time. The capacity and performance of these two types of batteries are worse, and the endurance performance is also worse.

The types of lithium battery materials for electric scooters can be divided into three categories: ternary lithium battery, lithium iron phosphate, and lithium manganate. Among them, the ternary lithium of the same level has the largest capacity and the longest endurance, and the lithium iron phosphate has a lower capacity, but the number of cycles is the most, the safety factor is better, but the cost is the highest. On the market, lithium iron phosphate batteries are used in high-end models.

The material of the lithium battery, the quality of the protection board, the PCAK technology and the capacity of the battery are all necessary consideration criteria when we buy a car. The user only needs to know the factory information of the battery through the label information on the outer packaging of the battery. For battery products that do not indicate this information, you must be careful when you buy them again.
