How do they work?
To use the Beam or Neuron scooter, you need to download the respective app and scan the QR code on the scooter to unlock it and start riding. All scooters are equipped with helmets, which you can unlock from the app when you start riding.
The maximum speed of electric scooters is limited to 15 km/h on the sidewalk and up to 25 km/h on the road. They will automatically slow down in designated busy traffic areas near Braddon and Civic. There are also designated parking areas-Beam and Neuron's apps will remind you that you cannot leave it to the next person.
Can I ride on the road?
Detective Inspector Boorman said that users should avoid the road as much as possible and slow down around pedestrians. Where can I go?
Geo-fencing limits the range of your electric scooter through the city. The Neuron and Beam apps outline where scooters can and cannot be parked. If you bring the scooter beyond these limits, it will slow down and lock up.
If you accidentally cross the border, you can temporarily unlock it and return to the geofenced area, but you won’t be able to go anywhere quickly until you return to the approved area. If the scooter is placed in an incorrect location, it may also add additional costs.
The northern cycling area includes parts of Turner, O'Connor, Linnham, Ainsley, and Dixon, and passes through Reed, Bradden, and Swieqi to the city center. You can also take the scooter to Campbell and Russell. In the south, scooters can be ridden in certain parts of Deakin, Forrest, Narrabundah and Fyshwick. Both Neuron and Beam scooters can be used in Belconnen near Lake Ginninderra and can be extended to part of Macquarie.
How much do they want?
The Beam scooter currently has no unlocking cost, which is 45 minutes per minute.
The unlocking fee for the Neuron scooter is $1 and costs 38c per minute. Ordinary users can also use 3-day, weekly and monthly passes.
